Details

This course is suitable for children that are already able to ride (must be able to start independently and ride unaided continuously for at least 100m) and is usually held in school holidays across 2 consecutive days with sessions lasting 1 hour 30 minutes each. ‘Fun Skills’ is suitable for riders who have recently learnt to ride without stabilisers and younger riders who enjoy cycling, want to develop and improve their skills and have some fun while doing it. Fun skills are a method of introducing riders to basic cycle control using a variety of practices, including: follow the leader; looking behind; braking; riding around and between cones; slow race; passing bean bags; riding with one hand; negotiating obstacles. We have a limited number of bikes for hire, so if you don't have one suitable for your child you can hire one from us for £5 session (£10 for the two session course), which is payable on the first day of the course at the Cycle Hub. If bringing a bike will prove difficult for you, please contact the Cycle Hub at least a week before the course start date, and we'll see what we can do to help. There are a maximum of 6 places available for each of the courses. In the event of a course being under-subscribed, every effort will be made to still run the course, though we reserve the right to reduce the number of days and/or times as necessary.
